Michael is a husband and father of four. He’s a sci-fi geek and loves coffee. After twelve years of church ministry to kids and teens he transitioned to a focus on teaching parents to be the first influence in their kids’ lives. BecauseFamily uses seminars, conferences, workshops, videos, podcasts, and blog posts to inspire parents and equip families. Michael is the author of What’s in Your Pocket? A Parent’s Guide to Protecting Your Family Online and he curates a family tech blog (SAFE.BecauseFamily.org) and speaks in workshops to help parents and ministers better understand the digital world their kids live in. After settling down from two years traveling in a motorhome with his family, Michael is focused on training parents in his community in Southwest Missouri as well as speaking to parents all over the USA.

John loves gadgets and other geeky things (like Star Wars, Doctor Who, and bacon) and sometimes wishes he could homeschool on the holodeck of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
In the spaces between working full-time, being a husband and father, struggling to follow God, and fixing stuff around the house John tries to find time for his hobbies: podcasting, blogging, social media, backyard astronomy, and coaching soccer.
